Turkey hunting is not just a past time, it’s my passion. A passion that combines my love of woodworking into handmade turkey mounts or plaques for displaying your turkeys. My mounts and plaques are designed to incorporate the turkey fan, beard, and spurs.
My name is Tim and Stump Jumper was my dad, Pete. Stumper Jumper was his nickname in the cold war U.S. Army. He got the name from his army buddies because in a rush to get somewhere, he jumped over a tree stump in a ditch and broke his ankle. My dad lived his life with the attitude that no obstacle was to big when it came building or fixing something….you just kept at it! A union pipe fitter by vocation, he was a wonderfully talented man in mechanics, metals, piping, and wood. He shared his love of woodworking with my brother, my sister and me.
About three years ago, I took my oldest daughter turkey hunting for the first time. We watched a nice gobbler in full strut on a tree stump for about an hour. It was magical, a day I won’t forget. Hence the origins of the company name. Whether for taxidermy or a gift, putting your trophy fan, beard, and spurs up on a high quality piece of wood is what we do! Stumper Jumper Pete went to his eternal reward in 2015.
